    İstanbul Museum Of Modern Art

If you would like to see exclusive pieces of modern paintings, sculptures, photographs and video art from Turkey and the rest of the world, and perhaps after you watch a special movie, get your coffee or drink at the same locale overlooking a delightful Bosphorus view while watching the international liners arriving in Istanbul, then the only address which you will choose is the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art.

As the first private museum in Turkey to organize modern and contemporary art exhibitions, the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art was founded on December 11th, 2004 by one of the country’s most prominent companies, Eczacıbaşı Holding on the Galata port on the shore of the Bosphorus. For the museum, an 8000 m2 dry cargo warehouse (the fourth warehouse) owned by the Turkey Maritime Organization Inc. was transformed into a modern museum building with all corresponding functions.

Three collection exhibitions have taken place in the permanent exhibition hall in the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, which has been defined as “the changing face of Turkey” in the New York Times. The temporary exhibition area has housed seventeen exhibitions which include three retrospective exhibitions, seven significant international exhibitions and a grand exhibition on the Turkish sculpture tradition. The museum has also hosted sixteen photography exhibitions consisting of the works of famous photography artists from Turkey and around the globe, in addition to nine video exhibitions.

In addition to its temporary and permanent exhibition halls, the museum also provides a variety of services with its photography gallery, video, education and social programs, library, movie theatre, café and design emporium.

    LOCATION

The Museum is located on the pier behind the Nusretiye Mosque. Visitors can reach the museum by bus or streetcar using the Tophane exit. Private vehicles must pay parking fee to use the Museum’s parking lot.
